“Values, Ideas and Stories from Youth ON stage – VISYON” is a 24-month long Erasmus+ KA3 European Youth Together project that aims to encourage youth’s social and civic engagement and ensure that young people have the necessary resources to participate fully in society.
The VISYON project is excited to announce the completion of the “European Youth Diary,” a groundbreaking compilation resulting from the collaborative efforts of VISYON’s local youth groups across Europe. This diary serves as a testament to the active engagement of young citizens in discussions about the 11 European Youth Goals, capturing their thoughts, stories, and recommendations.
The European Youth Diary is more than just a collection of stories; it acts as a mirror reflecting the current state of European policies. Comprising voices from 267 young Europeans, the diary aims to evaluate the effectiveness of European policies in achieving the 11 Youth Goals and proposes a roadmap for improvements.
A DEEPER DIVE INTO THE EUROPEAN YOUTH DIARY
Divided into 11 chapters, each corresponding to a European Youth Goal, the diary provides a comprehensive overview of the collected interviews. These chapters feature captivating suggestions, stories, viewpoints, and recommendations for improvements. Each section begins with a set of questions posed to interviewees, along with summaries of their responses and notable quotes collected during the creation of the European Youth Diary.
In addition to presenting the goals and objectives, the diary highlights existing European initiatives related to each goal.
Surprisingly, 72% of the interviewees acknowledged that before participating in this initiative, they had never heard of the European Youth Goals. Only 9% of the respondents claimed to have a solid understanding of these goals, indicating a significant lack of awareness. Remarkably, the vast majority of respondents (80%) expressed a strong desire to become more actively involved with these initiatives despite general unfamiliarity. Furthermore, 80% of the respondents agreed that the EU’s commitments to youth empowerment are important and effective, demonstrating confidence in the EU’s ability to effect change.
ABOUT THE VISYON PROJECT:
In the vibrant tapestry of Europe’s diversity, the VISYON (Values, Ideas and Stories from Youth ON stage) project, funded by the Erasmus+ program, has embarked on a significant journey. Bringing together youth organizations from eight European countries—Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, and Spain—the project focuses on empowering young Europeans to engage, express themselves, and support the implementation of the EU Youth Strategy (2019-2027).
The journey of the VISYON project began with a fundamental mission: to equip young participants with the tools and knowledge necessary to effect change in their communities and beyond. Through local workshops, debates, and training sessions, young individuals have been empowered to understand the Youth Goals, engage in critical reflection, and become active citizens. The project aims to prepare them to navigate the modern media landscape while engaging them in the political discussion regarding the European Youth Goals through an innovative approach—the creation of short films, which will be produced and published by the end of the project.
